Additional information
The Doctorate in Art and Design programme aims to convey the phenomenon of art and design to student candidates who understand, synthesise, and particularly wish to produce in different art and design disciplines, providing an environment for inquiry and application suitable to the expectations of these times. Created with a completely interdisciplinary vision, the programme is practice-oriented and aims for students to present their works alongside their theses in an exhibition at the end of their education.
The Doctorate in Art and Design programme includes rich, diversity-based research and application opportunities encompassing all contemporary art and design disciplines. These fields generally include Painting, Sculpture, Moving Image Production (Film, video), Photography, Installation, Digital Design (Animation, Motion Graphics, Film and Visual Effects Design), Graphic Design (Desktop Publishing, Packaging Design, Traditional Printing Techniques), and all similar contemporary art and design disciplines.
The purpose of the Doctorate in Art and Design programme is to train high-level artists and designers who can produce original works by synthesising previously uncombined theory and practical works from different fields through interdisciplinary interaction, and who can create universally comprehensible and influential works suitable for the multicultural structure of art and design. Additionally, our programme holds the distinction of being the first programme in the TRNC as a doctorate-equivalent proficiency programme suitable for the practice-based nature of art and design fields. In this context, considering the need in the field, it allows all candidates who have received or are receiving art and design education to carry their higher education to the final step.
