Our Learning Innovation Centre

At SRH University, we create the space for your personal development. Our goal: to provide you with outstanding learning and teaching conditions, so you can prepare yourself for the challenges of the modern working world. Whether you study on campus, online, or from abroad – we at SRH University of Applied Sciences Heidelberg are here to support you.
We design learning experiences that enable you to unlock your full potential. In this supportive community, you’ll build valuable connections with fellow students and businesses.

Our aim is to offer all students at SRH University outstanding learning and teaching conditions. These create the basis for an inspiring and forward-looking degree programme that optimally prepares students for the dynamic challenges of the modern world of work and life.

We are a dedicated team at the Learning Innovation Centre and are continuously developing our innovative ‘CORE‘ study model, which was awarded the Genius Loci Prize for Teaching Excellence in 2018. We are passionate about ensuring that teaching and learning at SRH University is sustainable and successful and that our students can realise their full potential.

Future skills in the digital age

In the rapidly advancing world of work 4.0, flexibility, lifelong learning and digital expertise are decisive factors for professional success. Our CORE study programme aims to equip our students with precisely these future skills.

We place particular emphasis on the development of skills that go far beyond pure specialised knowledge. We promote critical thinking, creativity and problem-solving skills – all essential future skills for the challenges of tomorrow – through competence-orientated examination formats, activating teaching-learning formats, practical projects and research-based learning.

Our graduates are characterised by a high level of employability. They are not only highly qualified professionally, but also have the necessary skills to be optimally equipped not only for the working world of today, but also for the challenges of tomorrow.

The future of teaching: AI, microcredentials and diversity

In the dynamic landscape of university development, the Learning Innovation Centre stands for the implementation of teaching innovations that take into account the needs of a diverse student body.

We support our teaching staff in the integration of AI in teaching and are working on the introduction of microcredentials & badges to design individual learning paths and personalise studies. Our focus on diversity is reflected in the variety of our teaching and learning methods.

Analogue and digital learning worlds

Effective learning in the 21st century requires a harmonious fusion of analogue and digital learning environments. Our innovative approach is based on a didactically sensible mix of face-to-face and online events as well as the use of digital tools to create an optimal learning environment for our students.

In our modern learning spaces, we rely on flexible furniture that can be easily adapted to different teaching and learning scenarios. These agile room concepts promote collaboration, creativity and interactive learning in face-to-face phases.

At the same time, we integrate advanced digital tools for teaching that enrich the learning experience and prepare students for the digital world of work. Our blended learning concept combines the advantages of both worlds: Personal interaction and direct exchange in face-to-face phases with the flexibility of digital formats.

Through this balanced approach, we create a learning environment that fulfils both the requirements of the modern working world and the individual learning preferences of our diverse student body. We prepare our students to move confidently in both worlds and to make optimum use of the advantages of analogue and digital tools for their learning success.

Student participation for the digital transformation

We recognise the enormous potential of our students as a driving force for digital transformation. Our innovative project ‘Students as Change Agents‘ starts right here and utilises the student perspective and innovative power to shape our digital learning environments in a future-oriented way.

We encourage and empower our students to play an active role in shaping the digital future of our university. Through an institutionalised bottom-up process, they provide helpful impulses and make a significant contribution to the further development of our teaching and learning concepts as well as our administration.

At the heart of this programme are our Student Digital Transformation Agents (SDTA). They work as a dynamic team in the Learning Innovation Centre and act as a bridge between the student body and university management. Through future workshops, online surveys and close networking with the University Digitalisation Forum, they first identify the needs of the students and present these to the decision-making bodies.

Together, we are shaping the future of studying at SRH University.

Targeted improvement of teaching skills

At the Learning Innovation Centre, we understand that excellent teaching is the key to outstanding learning outcomes. That is why we offer a comprehensive programme for the continuous development of our lecturers' teaching skills.

Our diverse offering includes interactive workshops, online courses tailored to our CORE study model and individual counselling for lecturers. In this way, we ensure that our lecturers are always up to date with the latest developments in university didactics and can continuously develop their teaching. Together, we create an inspiring learning environment that optimally prepares our students for the challenges of the future.
