Speciality

You are obliged to pay 50% of your fees before enrolment on your course.

Additional information

You will learn to edit for high-end drama and factual film and TV, using state-of-the-art software along with high-quality post-production sound and colour grading facilities. You will also discover technical production from single camera to studio set-ups as well as research and screenwriting. You can enhance your employability by completing an Avid Certified User certificate.

You’ll also have the opportunity to collaborate with leading editors from industry, and learn valuable insight from industry experts through a range of guest lectures. Recent speakers have included Mick Audsley (Harry Potter), Walter Murch (Apocalypse Now), Eddie Hamilton (Kingsman, MI:6), Nina Hartstone (Bohemian Rhapsody, Gravity, Beauty and the Beast) and many more. Students also have the opportunity to visit media organisations for a behind-the-scenes experience, allowing you to engage with professionals and gain insight into the industry.

You will be encouraged to complete work experience alongside your degree, and recent students have completed placements at Envy, Woodcut Media and the BBC. You'll also work on live briefs with external clients, and will have the opportunity to get involved with Solent Productions, our in-house production company. Our students have filmed at American Cinema Editors conference EditFest, Glastonbury Festival, Bestival, Camp Bestival, Boardmasters, NASS, Teddy Rocks Festival, Viewpress TV, BBC South and local TV production companies including Woodcut Media and Topical TV.
